The township of Staffin has a small local-style restaurant, a popular café, a community shop and hall, a village-style store, and a post office. Please check opening times as they are seasonal. Please note that because of the remoteness of our location it is not possible to arrange for food or meal deliveries to the cottages. The nearest supermarket is located a 15-mile drive away in the village of Portree. Please check opening times. There are limited bus links between Staffin, Uig, and Portree. Please check bus times. There are currently no buses on Sundays.

The cottages face out to sea over Staffin Bay. The sea is ever present, and its many moods can be experienced from the comfort of the cottages. The sea views are excellent, and on a good day extend to the mountains of Torridon on the Scottish mainland. There is also a path near the cottages that leads to the shore.

The landscape is beautiful and the area offers opportunities for both gentle walking and serious hiking. The many famous nearby landmarks to explore include Kilt Rock, Lealt Falls, the Fairy Glen, the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, and more.

The views from the cottages and the surrounding areas look towards big horizons. On a clear day the sky views are vast in all directions. When the weather is unsettled you can experience the sky’s changing moods from the comfort of the cottages. When the mists roll in, snuggle down in comfort in front of a real wood-burning stove and take in the atmosphere whilst staying warm and cosy indoors.

During the dark months, weather and conditions permitting, the cottages provide an excellent vantage point from which to stargaze. If you are lucky, you might be treated to a display of the Northern Lights.

The north of Skye is richly biodiverse and is home to a wide array of plant, animal, bird, and marine life. If you are lucky, you might see otters, dolphins, seals, deer, and eagles. In the late spring and early summer there are orchids, and in the autumn ancient hazel groves still fruit with hazel nuts.

The Trotternish Ridge has a unique geology. It is the site of an ancient landslip and this has resulted in its intricate, dramatic, and fascinating topography. There are also fossils and dinosaur footprints to search for on the beach, and an abundance of mineral rocks.
